        Conversations for Scotland

A workshop playbook to help your community explore,

design and enable its own future

      • What are the conversations about?

A journey, a vision of wellbeing, an invitation to a different future

Determining our priorities as a network of connected communities

Our National Outcomes are are regularly reviewed

In Scotland we are very lucky to have an outcomes based framework that describes the future that Scotland wants, based on the values and aspirations of its people. The national outcomes were given legal status in 2015 and since that time the Scottish Government has been obligated to plan its activities (for example, how it spends the national budget) to help meet the agreed outcomes.

The National Outcomes are reviewed every 5 years and the Government must ask the people of Scotland for their views. For example, are the policies that they are prioritising aligned with our needs?

Shaping our own futures by building resilience and understanding

A nation of engaged and connected citizens can influence policy and thus the direction of Scotland's future

What do we care the most about, as individuals and for our communities? Do we want to strive for a Wellbeing Economy? What would we like our country to look like in 2035? What do we realistically think is going to happen in the next 10 to 15 years?

      • What you need to do this

        Not much.....

        People / a community

        Community diversity
        is welcome

A good conversation is a powerful way to connect people. You can convene a group based on a shared geographical location, a common interest, or any other link. We are all citizens of Scotland and therefore part of a wider community.

        A place to meet

        Wherever you feel most comfortable

In the park, in a cafe or pub, in somebody's home, in the workplace, a church, a community centre, a school, on a boat or anywhere else! The location is entirely flexible and should be chosen to suit your individual community.

        The playbook

A simple tool to help you guide the conversation

The playbook has been created to help you host interesting, inclusive and thought provoking conversations.
We have made it as easy as possible to do so that anyone can decide to bring a group together. No prior experience is required and everything you need should be in this playbook.
